2 – Context of the mission

SYNTONY continues to grow in the field of GNSS receivers. An ambitious product plan is defined on 3 axes:

  • A multi-frequency GNSS SDR receiver for applications requiring high performance in terms of: accuracy, resistance to interference and decoy
  • A receiver dedicated to IOT applications: combining a patented design with very low power consumption
  • A unique confined environment location system (called SubWAVE)

In this context, you will join the team dedicated to the SubWAVE product – which works in synergy with Syntony’s other products – with the objective of industrializing the product to allow it to be deployed on a large scale.

 

3 – Objectives

The mission includes:

  • Development and study of analog, digital, and radio frequency electronic systems and boards
  • Choice of components, study, and entry of drawings
  • FPGA Design & Development
  • Drafting of technical files (including definition files) according to ISO 9001 quality standards
  • System Integration
  • Pro-active participation in the development of skills and know-how

 

4 – Experience

Graduated with a Bac +5 equivalent or PhD, you have completed at least a 6-month internship in companies on practical subjects, and/or 1 or 2 years of active experience in hardware and firmware development of projects/products implementing complex architectures.

Passionate about design, you have a good culture of new technologies.

 

5 – Technical skills

You have knowledge of the development of electronic systems and boards, and are passionate about cutting-edge technologies and technical challenges.

And you have skills in the following areas:

  • Analog Electronics
  • Radiofrequency
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility
  • Digital Electronic Design and Development
  • Writing technical and validation reports
  • Drafting of technical definition files
  • Experience in FPGA specification, design, development, and verification is a plus

Knowledge of GNSS is appreciated

In this context, Syntony’s R&D department is looking for a Fullstack Mobile + Backend Developer.

 

Context of the mission

 

Syntony continues to develop SubWAVE, its patented positioning system for confined environments.

In this context, Syntony has developed mobile devices based mainly on Android (Java/Kotlin) and a cloud infrastructure (ApiPlatform), enabling the SubWAVE system (extension of GPS coverage underground) to demonstrate its positioning performance, calibrate and monitor it, and transmit its data to supervisory systems.

Additional services are planned on the basis of this initial development.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, and within a methodological framework inspired by the Agile method, your role will be to ensure the software development of new functionalities.

 

Missions

  • You will be involved in all phases of production:
    briefing, framing, design, architecture, development, testing, acceptance, etc.
  • You will participate in the drafting of technical specifications, flowcharts and software architectures for the modules and applications for which you are responsible.
  • In partnership with systems and hardware experts, you define the most efficient software implementation
  • Depending on the needs, you can carry out the front and/or back-end developments.
  • You set up pipelines for integrations, analysis, testing, and continuous deployments.
  • You comply with the various development and quality assurance processes.

 

Technical skills

 

  • Languages Kotlin 1.9, Java, C, Python 3.10 / PHP 8.
  • NoSql, Sql, TimeSeries, K/V databases.
  • Android API, FastAPI, Symfony Frameworks, and ApiPlatform.
  • Design patterns, object design, modular and scalable architectures.
  • Windows + Linux environments.
  • A strong sensitivity to UX, cyber security and knowledge of GNSS will be appreciated.
  • A good command of oral and writing English

 

About you

 

With a bac+5 degree in computer science, embedded systems or electronics, you have a strong appetite for cutting-edge technologies and technical challenges and have at least 5 years of experience in Android software development, preferably in Kotlin and 3 years in server backend development.

You have already participated in design phases as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Internship study and prototyping of GNSS-Mapping Hybridization method

2 – Context and subject of the internship

As part of several of these products, Syntony has developed various spatialized GNSS receivers, as well as a GNSS signal simulator, based on a Software Defined Radio (SDR) architecture.

The subject of the internship proposed by SYNTONY consists of the realization of studies and prototyping of algorithms allowing the hybridization of GNSS data with those from mapping.

The objective is to measure the contribution of such hybridization for the improvement of positioning performance, particularly in terms of integrity and accuracy, as well as in a disturbed environment (urban or semi-urban, in the presence of multipaths, etc.) such as that encountered in railway applications. SYNTONY has several datasets collected in railway applications. They will be used for the development of the algorithms and their validation.

 

Several hybridization approaches can be considered:

  • Map matching,
  • Map contraint positionning,
  • Virtual tags

 

3 – Skills and qualities required

 

The profile required corresponds to an end-of-study internship for a student leaving engineering school or at the end of a university Master’s degree, with a good foundation in mathematics and a strong appetite for theoretical studies with experimental application may also correspond.

Required Skills:

  • Data analysis
  • Signal Processing / Estimation Method (Kalman Filter, Least Square)
  • Knowledge of Navigation, GNSS System (GNSS receiver, positioning, orbitography, etc.) is a plus
  • Matlab / Octave (optional)
  • Technical curiosity, desire to learn, team spirit.
  • Fluency in technical English and good writing skills English / French
  • A taste for experimentation and analysis of real data is a plus (critical thinking, autonomy, writing).

Under the responsibility of the Production Manager, ensure the manufacturing activities (assembly, assembly, testing), in series or not, of the equipment marketed by the company

  • Prepare the manufacturing according to the work orders and the production schedule:

Experience in the space industry is a plus.

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in software development and have participated in HW-SW design and integration tasks in the field of embedded. Work on a PC architecture with real-time constraints. (Multi-core processing, high-speed interface, maximum latency, guaranteed response time)
