An LPV approach is an instrument flight procedure that uses GNSS and correction data provided by systems such as EGNOS to guide the aircraft with both lateral and vertical precision. Unlike a simple localizer approach that provides only lateral guidance, LPV offers vertical guidance without requiring an ILS. This capability allows safer landings in challenging terrain or airports with limited ground infrastructure.
